Nanohybrid Structures Workshop
Friday-Saturday, Nov. 15-16,
2002
James Franck Institute, The
University of Chicago
Organizers: Philippe Guyot-Sionnest,
Heinrich Jaeger, Tom Witten and Luping Yu
This workshop addresses new
opportunities emerging from the combination of
organic and inorganic building
blocks at the nanoscale. It brings together
experts from the areas of
nanoscale colloidal materials, self-assembly, and
polymer-based nanostructuring.
Topics to be discussed include new synthetic
routes for nanoparticles
as well as their linking into larger networks, the
role of interfaces in guiding
self-assembly, and the use of polymer architec-
tures as scaffolds for the
nanoscale organization of inorganic components.
The meeting is being held
under the auspices of the

Directions and Parking Information
The meeting is being held in the Research Institutes on the University
of Chicago Campus. Enter on 5640 South Ellis Avenue. The workshop will use
conference room RI-480 on the NE corner of the fourth floor of the Research
Institutes (James Franck Institute and Enrico Fermi Institute). We will
have signs posted to direct you to the conference room.
For workshop participants staying at the McCormick Hyatt hotel
we will have a shuttle bus to get you to the workshop site and back.
For a map of the campus showing the building location (5640 South
Ellis Ave), see http://mrsec.uchicago.edu/maps/local.html.
The meeting will be in the buildings marked 1 and 2 on that map. For travel
info and parking see http://www.uchicago.edu/docs/maps/.
Parking along Ellis is a possibility on Saturday, but the parking ramp at
the intersection of Ellis and 55th Street is the best bet on both days (visitor
parking is available; parking is free on Saturdays).
Due to limited space, participation
is by invitation only.
The meeting will begin at 8:30am on both days. There
will be two morning and two afternoon sessions of talks by invited speakers,
and ample time for discussions and interaction. A workshop banquet for all
participants will be held on Friday night. The registration fee is
$50.00.
If you would like to attend, please
fill out the Inquiry Form or contact Eileen Sheu at 773 834-9916 or esheu@uchicago.edu
for more information. We will respond with an invitation to those
we can accommodate.
All participants are invited to present a poster at this workshop.
The poster boards, which will be provided, are standard 36" (h) x 48"
(w) white foam tri-folds. The left and right panels are 36" (h)
x 12" (w), and the center panel is 36" (h) x 24" (w).
We will be standing these posters on a ledge. For a list of Poster
Titles submitted so far click here.
