The composite x-ray movies below show the impact of a 12mm sphere into a 8.5 cm deep granular bed at 12 kPa and 0.7kPa (only the top half of the bed was imaged at 0.7 kPa). Below the ball there is a slightly darker region due to the compaction of the bed.
