I was born in Shanghai, China.  I moved to Honolulu, Hawaii when I was 12.  I consider Honolulu to be my hometown. My parents still live there.  (No, I did not attend Barack Obama's old high school.)

 

I do understand Chinese.  But I speak it with a "funny accent", according to Lei Xu, who ought to know. I am usually too self conscious to speak it.
