The internet has transformed the world in many ways not least by accelerating research and science. Fast communication across the globe and access to vast amounts of both information and computing power has pushed forward new scientific breakthroughs and innovation. One of these is the idea of a quantum internet capable of transmitting and processing quantum information. In this seminar, I will discuss some of the opportunities that quantum networks may bring including recent work on secure elections, astronomical imaging, and distributed quantum computing.
